What needs to be done and what agricultural techniques to carry out to grow watermelon in a greenhouse, I will tell you in this video. For growing in greenhouses, it is advisable to choose varieties and hybrids with a short ripening period, early ripening. The optimal temperature for the growth and development of watermelons is 24-26 degrees. Condensation in the greenhouse and excessive humidity lead to the spread of diseases. Ventilate the room daily. On hot days, you can leave the greenhouse open for the whole day.
Properly organized watering is necessary for the growth and development of plants. With a lack of moisture, the leaves and vines of watermelons wither. It is enough to spend it 1-2 times a week, but abundantly. Or every other day, water the beds with water in moderation. Do not overdo it with the amount of moisture when watering, otherwise the fruits will begin to crack. Keep in mind that watermelon is a drought-resistant crop.
Soil fertilization can be carried out with various top dressing:
Ammonium nitrate. Dilute 15-20 g of granules in 10 liters of water. The liquid consumption is approximately 1.5-2 liters per plant.
Chicken droppings. Dissolve 800 g of organic matter in a bucket of water. Let it brew for a day in a warm place, stirring occasionally. The fertilizer consumption is 500 ml per bush.
Ash infusion. Use 700 g of ash per bucket of water, infusing the solution for 12-14 hours. The consumption of top dressing is 0.5 liters for each plant.
Potash-phosphorus fertilizers. Apply superphosphate 40-50 g per bucket of water and potassium chloride 25-30 g per 10 liters of water.
It is possible to understand that the harvest time has come for several points:
the watermelon skin becomes smooth and elastic;
the stripes of the pattern become yellowish;
when tapping on the fruit , a ringing sound is made;
the tail of the watermelon is thinning and drying up.
