That actress Yvonne Strahovski, who played the villainous Serena Joy in the series, had to hide a big secret during filming? One of the biggest plot twists in The Handmaid’s Tale occurs when it is revealed that Serena Joy, wife of Commander Waterford, falls pregnant after previously believing it was impossible for her to bear a child. However, Strahovksi had to hide the fact she was really pregnant from her fellow cast members, as she feared that the production would have to slow down to accommodate her. However, when it became clear that she would have to perform certain violent scenes in the show, she thought it was time to let her fellow cast members know about the pregnancy. The show's writers even rewrote parts of Season Three with Yvonne’s pregnancy in mind.
