This video tutorial shows Kali Linux LXDE 2017.3 installation and overview on VMware Workstation/Player step by step. This tutorial is also helpful to install Kali Linux LXDE 2017.3 on physical computer or laptop hardware. We also install VMware Tools (Open VM Tools) on Kali Linux LXDE for better performance and usability features: Fit Guest Now, Drag-Drop File and Clipboard Sharing.

Steps:
1- Create Virtual Machine on VMware Workstation/Player
2- Start Kali Linux LXDE 2017.3 Installation
3- Install VMware Tools (Open VM Tools) on Kali Linux LXDE
4- Test VMware Tools Features: Fit Guest Now, Drag-Drop File and Clipboard Sharing

Kali Linux LXDE 2017.3 New Features and Improvements
Kali Linux is a Debian-derived Linux distribution designed for digital forensics and penetration testing. Kali Linux XFCE 2017.3 includes all patches, fixes, updates, and improvements since Kali Linux 2017.2. In this release, the kernel has been updated to 4.13.10 and it includes some notable improvements:
CIFS now uses SMB 3.0 by default
EXT4 directories can now contain 2 billion entries instead of the old 10 million limit
TLS support is now built into the kernel itself

What is LXDE Desktop?
LXDE, which stands for Lightweight X11 Desktop Environment, is a desktop environment which is lightweight and fast. It is designed to be user friendly and slim, while keeping the resource usage low. LXDE uses less RAM and less CPU while being a feature rich desktop environment. Unlike other tightly integrated desktops LXDE strives to be modular, so each component can be used independently with few dependencies. This makes porting LXDE to different distributions and platforms easier.
