LFC#36 - iMac Unibody HDD Swap
How to replace the hard drive on a unibody iMac in about fifteen minutes.
Procedure very similar for edgeless models, except for super-slim ones. Polycarbonate iMacs are similar but the case comes apart differently.
They take standard 3.5" drives, some may use the HDD's internal thermal sensor, in which case you need an identical drive, or you'll need to over-rode system fan control with something like MacsFanControl.
FINALLY, if you're thinking of fitting an SSD, yes you can do that as well, but keep in mind that even with a 2.5-3.5 adaptor, you may need to ghetto-mount it inside.
