"Bathing in 108 holy springs" is the 9th episode from the series "The Kingdom of the Mustang: A Journey Through Time". The Russian traveler Sergei Vertelov continues to explore the villages located in the valley of the Kali Gandaki River right on the border of the Lower and Upper Mustang (Nepal).
This time he Sergei goes to the main Hindu temple of Vishnu, the sacred city of Muktinath, dedicated to the same-named deity. There, at an altitude of 3,800 meters, there is one of the Buddhist and Hindu shrines - 108 holy springs and the place of washing of sin for all Hindu and the Buddhist pilgrims from over the world.
Hindus call this place Mukti Kshetra, which means "the place of soul salvation." Also this place is one of the 51 Shakti Pithas (the center of Shakti worship). Buddhists also gave it the name Chumig Gyats, which in Tibetan means "one hundred and eight holy waters".
