Most standard household shower hoses in the bathroom consist of an internal rubber tube placed in a metal, rarely polymer, corrugated shell. The outer element is designed to protect the rubber product from cracks, breaks, and sprains. On both ends of the hose, for connecting it to the mixer and shower head, special connectors are installed – fittings with cap nuts.
Most often, the inner rubber tube is the first to fail – over time, it dries up, crumbles and bursts in places of frequent bends. Less often, connecting fittings break down – under the influence of shocks and other mechanical damage, the cap nuts crack or their rubber seals become unusable.
