State-owned companies profitable: how is that possible? | The price of the state
There are a number of companies such as Naftogaz, Ukrenergo, Energoatom, enterprises in the defense sector, etc., which are unlikely to be privatized. Therefore, the question arises of how to organize the management of such assets so that they bring profit to their main shareholder - taxpayers - rather than losses.
Effective management is equally important for assets that will be sold to private owners in the future because their condition on the eve of privatization will influence the price and attractiveness to investors.
In this video, we will explain in detail the current state of corporate governance of state-owned enterprises today and what else needs to be done for Ukraine to have an equivalent of the Norwegian company Equinor, which is state-owned, generates huge profits, and has assets worldwide.
