On Friday, April 15, 1994, in the beautiful Sunset Cliffs area of San Diego, California, two surfers noticed something strange washed up on the sand nearby.
On closer inspection, they discovered that it was a body. These were the remains of 25-year-old Michelle von Emster, who was lying face down on a massive bed of brown algae.
Her remains were immediately taken to the district police headquarters. On initial examination, the medical examiner indicated large torn pieces of flesh and a missing right leg.
So, the first thing that comes to mind in such a situation is that the girl was the victim of a shark attack, but this case is not as simple as it immediately seems...
