Viewers will learn about his first bands, which admittedly weren't very good; the hundreds of rejection letters from record labels and the unruly audiences at his early performances; the crooked manager who took advantage of him and changed the course of his life; and his ultimate rise to the top. The special ends with an intimate concert at the Crump Theater, featuring the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Famer's hits and even some songs he hasn't performed live in years.
