This is the sixth week of my learn python with Google video Log.

Last week, I started the new Python course: Using python to interact with the Operative system.

It's the second course of the Google IT Automation With professional python certificate.

Roger Martinex is the instructor for this course, and he is recording the series from another Google gaming room, this time the location has as a theme the universe, with a space ship and a galaxy on the background.

Roger is the system administrator for Hardware at Google. Funny to know that he didn't know what to study when he started college in New Jersey. After a friend recommended to check the IT program at his college, he gave it a try.

He felt he didn't belong and that he was out of place there, being the only Latino person, so he quit the day after in the class. So the day after he quit and didn't go back.

But in the end, he is still a self-tough Latino person who landed a job at Google. Not bad, I guess.

Just to say, that a bachelor degree in the IT world isn't that important but diversity is fundamental.

But anyway, let's move to my week.

This week the first and second modules of the new course are gone, assessment passed on both modules with 100% score, so all good.

And I started the third module. So module two was about file manipulation using python: - we studied how to read files and iterate through them.

How to write data and how to use the OS module to manipulate directories and file permissions.
We have also studied the CSV module, used to read and generate CSV files.
and how to use it with dictionaries.

At the end of each section, we did some practice, and I did more locally on my machine.

At the end of module two, the graded assessment. This time we used Qwiklabs that uses Goggle Cloud Platform to spin a virtual machine on the cloud.

And we worked on a Linux server, where we logged in using ssh credentials from our local computer.

Then using the command line and nano, we created files and wrote a python script to automate the task of checking the server CPU and disk usage using two python modules that we studied.

Graded assessment passed with 100% score so all good.

Also this week: I kept studying the basics of python and moved forward a little with the official python tutorial and also recorder a new episode of the python course for beginners (in Italian) as part of my consolidation plan.

At the moment: I have started the third module of the course, where I am studying regular expressions in python using the re module.
That's it for this week's video log. I'll see you next week.

Stay home! Protect your family! And save your ass!
