Over time, things become outdated and unfashionable. But don't rush to throw them away. An old blouse, dress, skirt can be transformed and become a completely new wardrobe item.
In large cities, near high-rise buildings there are special equipped containers where you can put an unnecessary bag of clothes. When I first saw this in St. Petersburg, I was very surprised, I wonder where it all goes then?
It is worth adding an insert or a decorative element - and the thing will sparkle with new colors. There are a great many ways to update or completely change an old but favorite thing.
I will show you one interesting idea in a new master class.
I have a simple jersey blouse, three-quarter sleeves, I’ll add a plain jersey here. In principle, everything will remain as it was, but due to these inserts the blouse will be transformed from a strict one into a more romantic and feminine one.
First, I cut off 10 cm of length on the blouse and a hem on the sleeves.
I cut out a strip 23 cm wide and 150 cm long from new knitwear; this piece will go to the bottom of the blouse. I also cut out two strips 18 cm wide for the sleeves. I folded these parts and stitched them.
Other fabrics, such as viscose, silk, guipure, are also suitable for inserts; you can review your clothes and choose the right one.
On the first page, I turned one side 7 cm and stitched it. Then I made another parallel stitch for the drawstring. The other side was gathered into soft folds.
How to determine the density of the assembly and calculate the length? The length of the strip of fabric or lace should be 1.5–2 times greater than the length of the cut being processed. This is the build factor. For example, you need to trim the bottom of a curtain whose width is 1 meter with a frill. 1m x 1.5 = 1.5 meters.
I attached this detail to the blouse.
I inserted an elastic band into the drawstring. The result was a draped shuttlecock.
For the sleeves, I folded the knitwear on one side for an elastic band, and gathered the other side.
Ready.
As you can see, with the help of flounces you can easily update any tired clothes.
