To easily make your text or graphic appear gold or silver, go to effect - generate - gradient ramp. Place the two gradient ramp anchor points on the sides of the text. Then change the first color to a light yellow or gray and the second color to a brown or dark gray. Now apply the cc light sweep effect from generate. Animate the center to have the light sweep move across the text/ Now change the direction to 0. The shape to smooth. The width to 100, the sweep intensity to 50, the edge intensity to 15 and the edge thickness to 2. After changing this settings you should have a gold or silver graphic.
