today video is Xiaomi reveals their new humanoid robot: CyberOne.
At Xiaomi’s new product introduction event in Beijing on August 11, CyberOne, the company’s first humanoid robot, made its debut among other innovative products. CyberOne is the latest member to Xiaomi’s Cyber series, joining the quadruped robot Cyberdog from a year ago. You can learn more about Cyberdog from here. And now Xiaomi announced their new humanoid robot, CyberOne.
Xiaomi Robotics Lab.
“CyberOne’s AI and mechanical capabilities are all self-developed by Xiaomi Robotics Lab. We have invested heavily in R&D spanning various areas, including software, hardware, and algorithms innovation,” says Lei Jun, Founder, Chairman, and CEO of Xiaomi Group.
“With AI at its core and a full-size humanoid frame as its vessel, this is an exploration of possibilities of Xiaomi’s future technological ecosystem and a new breakthrough for the company.”
CyberOne
In the intoduction event hold in Beijing, CEO of Xiaomi, Lei Jun demonstrated the CyberOne. As in the video new CyberOne humanoid robot can make conversations, hold the objects in its hand and walk. Watch the video here.
Along with a variety of other cutting-edge technology, it has the ability to recognize human emotion, advanced visual capabilities, and functionality that enables it to build three-dimensional virtual reconstructions of the real environment. CyberOne has advanced arms and legs and it can generate a peak torque of up to 300Nm.
CyberOne is a humanoid robot that is 177 cm tall, weighs 52 kg, and has an arm span of 168 cm. This humanoid robot is more mechanically complex than a quadruped robot, needing more powerful motors, degrees of freedom, and complex humanoid biped control algorithms. CyberOne can imitate human movements in their entirety since it supports up to 21 degrees of freedom in motion and achieves a real-time response speed of 0.5ms for each degree of freedom.
The efficiency of each joint motor determines how well a robot moves. Due to the need to generate additional kinetic energy without enlarging component sizes, such motors have extremely high technological requirements.
Xiaomi has created a high-efficiency motor for the upper limb joint motor that is under 500g in weight and has a rated output torque of up to 30Nm to assure the flexibility of CyberOne’s upper limbs. The hip joint motor is similarly capable of an instantaneous peak torque of up to 300Nm.
The self-created humanoid bipedal control algorithm has allowed CyberOne to construct a steady and natural walking posture. Additionally, CyberOne can be programmed by demonstration and can hold up to 1.5 kg of weight in one hand.
CyberOne can detect 3D space, as well as identify people, gestures, and expressions thanks to a self-created Mi-Sense depth vision module and a combination of an AI interaction algorithm. This enables CyberOne to not only observe but also comprehend its environment. CyberOne has a MiAI environment semantics recognition engine and a MiAI vocal emotion identification engine that allow it to understand 85 different types of ambient sounds and 45 different categories of human emotions in order to connect with the rest of the world.
CyberOne has the ability to recognize happiness and can even give comfort to the user when they are sad. The processing units of CyberOne have all the functionality built in, and they work with a curved OLED module to show interactive information in real time.
