This hobby became popular also among the merchants and nobility and gradually spread throughout Japan. Tokyo Taisho Exhibition in 1914 for the first time presented color koi to the attention of the general public. Now in many countries there are clubs and associations of koi lovers, exhibitions and shows are held.
