In this two-part video series, Paul Richards reviews two questions: How to bring vMix into Skype and How to bring Skype into vMix. Both questions are asked regularly by live streaming and broadcasters new to vMix. As explained in this video you can bring vMix into Skype to add additional broadcast features you can't find with a regular webcam and Skype. For example you can add a green screen with a virtual background, lower thirds and additional graphics. Bringing vMix into Skype can be done with the "external webcam" feature which creates a "vMix Webcam" you can select in Skype (or any video conferencing software).
Using vMix as your webcam in Skype adds unlimited video controls for video conferencing users. This is great for sales presentations, webinars and recorded videos with remote participants. For example, you may not want to broadcast your presentation to world via a live stream because your meeting is confidential. Using vMix in Skype allows you to create a visually appealing presentation in private video conference meetings.
If you want to bring Skype into vMix to host you own live show, you may still want to use the "external webcam" feature to provide "return video" to your video conference participants. More on this in our next video.
