Duncan Vincent takes a test drive in the all-new smart #1, and yes it really is pronounced 'hashtag one'. The formerly compact city-car brand has a whole new aesthetic with their expanded offering providing room for more than two passengers. And as the automotive industry moves away from conventional fuel, they're also now a fully electric brand.
Is this a successful reinvention? The small electric car market is becoming increasingly crowded but smart offer something a little different in terms of styling with glass roof and dual colours, alongside an impressive 260 miles of range based on the WLTP cycle. And with a 150kW charger, this car can charge from 10 – 80% in just 30 minutes, which makes it pretty convenient on the move.
The Pro+ is impressive for an entry-level model with the elegant Premium and Sporty BRABUS offering something more further up the range.
