John Williams has written so many great themes that one could be forgiven for not immediately thinking of Superman when asked to name his greatest hits. But it's a truly immense theme, and this is the scene where we get to hear it burst into life. The build-up is wonderful, and the pay-off is even better. They don't write themes like this any more.
