How to create guides - Follow these steps:
Click on the 'Image' tab.
Hover over 'Guides' and click on 'New Guide (by Percent)'.
Now you can add a guide at the center for example, this is the same as 50% of the image.
Click on 'OK' to add the guide.
You can do the same with a vertical guide, now at 25% of the image.
Click on the 'Image' tab.
Hover over 'Guides' and click on 'New Guide'.
Now you can select the number of pixels instead of a percentage.
Click on 'OK' to add the guide.
The guide is added 25 pixels from the top of the image.
You can also create guides from a selection.
Four new guides have been added along the rectangular selection.
Add a point with the 'Measure Tool'.
Press 'Alt' on the point and click left mousebutton to add a vertical guide.
Press 'Ctrl' on the point and click left mousebutton to add a horizontal guide.
