US Defence Secretary Llyod Austin held a meeting with his Indian counterpart Rajnath Singh while visiting New Delhi. On June 5, 2023, the two confirmed a roadmap for military cooperation over the next few years. The allies have strengthened ties to counter the rise of China’s influence in the region. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Washington and have a meeting with US President Joe Biden on June 22.
