Aquarium piranhas vs dovii cichlid fish aquarium battle series. If your getting a dovii cichlid your going to need crazy good filtration. Our favorite budget line canister filter is the Sunsun series.

I'm new to keeping an aquarium, just a few short months. I was gifted a 60ltr tank. I've had numerous problems, fighting fish, spot disease, broken pump, algae outbreak etc I finally seem to have everything under control so I thought I'd share a few photos. You may notice some fish have tail damage, the offender has been removed. Any advice welcome. I have 4 pregnant female guppies, 2 of which are about fit to burst.
Very cool tank. Like Corey said, be careful with that red tail shark. They tend to harass other community fish. Also if you ever need any advise, feel free to ask here. Lots of helpful people around who will give you the right advise.

Bought tank secondhand 13 days ago and he emptied 95% of the water and left about 5 litres for the fish to be transported in a bucket but it seems okay, did my first water change yesterday
I’ve got a 115L (30gal) long tank with 10 African cichlids and two baby bristlenose(I think they’re bristlenose?) that are about 2cm long. So I’ve got a few questions.
1. I’ve got pellets for the cichlids and algae wafers for the BN but every time I put a wafer in the cichlids instant steal it and play with it til it’s gone. I have no idea whether they’ve even touched it since I got them and the tank a week and a half ago.
2. I have two “old school” sponge filters with an air pump but one of the outputs has died so I just have one going. Will I need to buy a new filter or is this okay?
3. There seems to be a lot of algae built up in the two logs I got with the tank, can I add any fish that will clean this up or do I just have to scrub it in old tank water to clean it.
4. I’ve seen a little bit of fighting going on with one fish in particular trying to claim the cave in the middle, will they hurt each other or will it be fine and they’ll figure out territory?
5. Is dead white coral okay to put in the tank, person I bought it off had it in his for about 6 months. Thanks everyone
What are the water parameters like in the tank atm?
You can attach zucchini to a rock to sink it down so the bristle nose can get some food.
Filters depend on how well they filter, surprise surprise. What type of filter are you using? Does it have some bio media in it? Honestly a tank that size should be using a small canister filter.
Fighting in Africans is natural and a pecking order should happen once they settle more.
The coral will raise the PH over time so for the Africans that’s great, the bristlenose not so great.
I only have a PH test kit as my lfs has free water testing so I can pop over whenever I need but I got told all I really need is the ph kit. I don’t really understand what type of filter it is but they’re two short cylinder sponges with an air hose going into the top from an air pump. It was still very damp when I got it back into the tank from moving it all.
Yep now that I opened my eyes I can see the filters, they are old school alright but they are not designed to handle the waste load the aquarium is going to produce. You will definitely need a new better filter ASAP.
Always have a test kit at home. If the tank crashes at night time due to ammonia spikes you can loose everything by morning.
