In this video, you will see how to export Outlook contacts to iCloud and Gmail.
Outlook has two options to export the contacts, CSV or PST file. With the CSV, you can import the contacts to Google Contacts and then iCloud. With the PST file, you can import the contacts to another Outlook application.
You can export Outlook contacts using the Outlook application (CSV or PST) or the Outlook web version (CSV only).
In this demonstration, I first imported the contacts to Gmail, then from Google, I created a vCard file for all the contacts and imported the Outlook contacts into my iCloud account. As iCloud contacts synchronize with the iPhone, I imported the contacts on the browser, and you can see all the contacts on your iPhone, iPad, or any other device connected to the same iCloud account.
After exporting the contacts from Outlook and before importing them to Google, you must fix the header row of the CSV file. This is important so Google can label the columns correctly. Without the correct label, the contact data won’t be mapped in iCloud. For example, the email column header should contain the word "Work" or "Home," and the phone number column must contain "Work" or "Mobile.”
Because iCloud doesn’t support importing CSV files, you need to go through the Google account. However, you can delete the imported contacts on Google after exporting the vCard file. In Google Contacts, it creates a new label with the current date, and you have the option to delete the label with the contacts in one click. This is when you don’t want to keep the contacts on Google.
