🚨🚨Here’s one food that cancer survivors should think about avoiding. 🚨🚨
If there is one food to avoid after cancer, then it’s got to be processed meats. 🌭The link between processed meats and cancer is becoming clearer all the time.
But you probably have some questions about this so make it straightforward right now.
Processed meats are meats that have had something done to them to help preserve them to last longer. 🍽
➡️This includes things like hot dogs, sausages, bacon, deli meat, or charcuterie.
Of course there are going to be times in your life where you want to enjoy these foods. So instead of cutting them out entirely (which you may find tough), think about limiting them instead.
Here are 4 tips below!
🍗Swap for unprocessed meats
Instead of using deli meat for your sandwiches or salads, make a roast chicken, beef, or pork tenderloin and use it for lunches throughout the week.
🫘Swap for plant based alternatives
As a cancer thriver, you want to up your veggies! So this is a great chance to use plant based protein alternatives.
🥳Save it for a special occasion
Of course there are moments in life when you’ll want to eat a sandwich at a picnic or have bacon at brunch. Go for it! The idea is to minimize your processed meat use.
🐟Pick a white processed meat instead
The scientific evidence around processed meats mainly includes red processed meats. Less is known about white processed meats but they are considered safer alternatives.
