Exposure Compensation when using Sony Alpha Cameras
Perhaps one of the most important camera setting adjustments, when using a Sony Alpha Mirrorless camera, is to use the The Exposure Compensation dial (Exposure Comp) to optimise the exposure. This is required when the Auto Exposure, as guided by the Metering Mode, leads to under or overexposure. This is especially important when trying to prevent highlights from 'clipping' or becoming so overexposed that the detail is not recoverable in post production. In this video tutorial I discuss when it is appropriate to make and adjustment, how to monitor the highlights when making the adjustment and whether to us a fixed ISO setting or ISO Auto.
