Prior to joining WWE, Farrelly was a two-time International Heavyweight Champion during his tenure in Irish Whip Wrestling. He has held the WWE Championship on two occasions, the World Heavyweight Championship once, and the WWE United States Championship twice, as well as winning the 2010 King of the Ring tournament and the 2012 Royal Rumble match.

He had brief off-season stints with the Minnesota Vikings and Jacksonville Jaguars in 2007. Anoa'i then turned to the Canadian Football League's Edmonton Eskimos in 2008, playing a season before his release and retirement from football.

He is best known for his time in WWE, where he is the longest-reigning WWE Champion of the "modern era" (since Hulk Hogan's 1,474 day reign ended in 1988), having held the title for 434 days from November 20, 2011 to January 27, 2013. His reign is officially recognized as the sixth longest of all time.[6][7]
Punk won multiple world championships during his 15-year wrestling career, including the ROH World Championship and ECW Championship once each, WWE's World Heavyweight Championship three times, and the WWE Championship twice. He won the World Tag Team Championship (with Kofi Kingston) and the Intercontinental Championship, making him the 19th WWE Triple Crown Champion and the fastest man in WWE history to achieve this feat, in 203 days.[8] He was a two-time ROH World Tag Team Champion (with Colt Cabana as part of the The Second City Saints). Punk also won the 2008 and 2009 Money in the Bank ladder matches (the only wrestler to win the match twice),[9] and the 2011 Superstar of the Year Slammy Award in WWE.

The game is the latest in the WWE 2K series and released on October 28, 2014 North America and October 31, 2014 in Europe for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, and was released on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on November 18, 2014 in North America and November 21, 2014 in Europe. The cover features John Cena and is the first in the series to use the WWE logo introduced in 2014. On April 21, 2015, WWE announced an upcoming Windows PC release April 28 2015.[2] This will be the first in the WWE 2K series to be released on PC as well as the first WWE game to be released on PC since 2002's WWE RAW.
