This is the quick Baritenor Vocal Workout. This set of exercises is designed for singers who have a connected vocal range between F2 and C5. The exercises will develop resonance, strength and agility. Make sure you don't push or strain to sing the higher notes and use the breaks between the exercises to take a sip of water. You will hear my voice starting each exercise.
Exercise 1: Strength and Agilty. This exercise has a note and vowel combination that will require you to sing in a small ascending and descending range. Use the MI sound to place your tone forward and open up on the AY and AH vowels as you sing the exercise.
Exercise 2: Cord Connection and Mixed Voice Placement. The Ga sound in this exercise is used for vocal cord connection. You should feel a slight build up of pressure behind your cords as you sing this sound. The NYA sound is used for mixed voice placement. Allow your jaw to drop and aim your tone to the roof of your mouth as you open up into the AH vowel.
Exercise 3: Epic High Notes. This exercise will ascend up into the tenor high mix and head voice range. Your goal is to sustain a bright and agile vocal tone as you ascend up through your range. It is also helpful to do this exercise first using the lip trill to get your vocal cord and air support finely tuned.
Exercise 4: Strength and Endurance. In this exercise you will sing a repeating scale in a small range that gradually ascends and descends throughout a large range of F2 to C5. Make sure you don't force the highest note of each exercise. Allow your air and support to do all the work.
