Despite the evident power and influence of the vast China, something is clearly wrong with its economy, and this is noticeable in many areas. In cities, you can see unfinished construction projects. There is a shortage of jobs on vacancies platforms - the number of young people who cannot find a job has more than doubled. The stock market is also going through tough times – it has lost about 42% of its value since 2021. And the real estate market, which has always been a strong sector of the economy, is now in decline.
Countries where the rule of law, economic freedom, and democracy prevail achieve stable development and prosperity. China is a country with an authoritarian political system where the rule of law depends on the interests of the ruling party, and in terms of economic freedom, the country has degraded to 151st place in the world - the worst indicators since 1996. Worse, even than Ukraine.
Although China has made significant economic progress, its growth was mainly based on an infrastructure and export-oriented model and the openness of Western countries to invest in the Chinese economy, transfer of technology. Externally, communist China looks like a powerful state, but its fundamental problems threaten its long-term stability.
