Ok so we got to talk about the ending of the Mandalorian chapter 21, and what happened to Moff Gideon.
And the indication is that Mandalorians had something to do with it.
The episode ends with Carson Teva finding the prison ship that was transporting Gideon.
And to no one's surprise, Gideon was freed. Or maybe he was captured by someone else. Whoever it was, they left behind a Beskar fragment.
So this has to be an obvious frame job by the empire, right?
But perhaps it’s not so simple, and there might be something bigger going on. What if it was the Mandalorians.
If that’s the case, who are these Mandalorians? Are they part of Din Djarin’s clan, or another faction that might be far more nefarious?
This scene right here might have just given us a hint for where season 3 is going, and we believe it’s a Mandalorian civil war.
And Moff Gideon’s rescue or capture explains how it all connects.
Alright, so from the start of season 3, we kept getting hints about Moff Gideon’s fate.
At first, it seemed pretty straightforward. Din captured him at the end of season 2, and then Cara Dune delivered him to the new republic.
In the first episode, Greef Karga says [clip].
So the assumption was that the Moff will be facing a trial.
But then in chapter 19, we started getting conflicting reports about Gidoen’s fate.
The new republic did send Moff Gideon to prison, but based on this scene it seems like the transport was attacked a while back.
So the rumors about him escaping were true. Meaning the new republic probably knew that the Moff disappeared but they were too incompetent to do anything about it.
Doug: Man, new republic sucks, it’s even worse than the old republic
You’re not wrong there.
Members of the empire, like Elia Kane, infiltrated the new republic, and now they’re undermining the government from the inside. This is all part of the empire’s plan in preparation for the First Order.
Though, the new republic is already destroying itself even without the help of these double agents.
They’re so afraid of another war that they blatantly ignore obvious threats in the outer rim.
All of this explains how the First Order came to power so easily in the new trilogy.
And of course, Grogu explains this [somehow]
Anyway, the question about Gideon’s prison break is this: Was he freed by the empire, or was he captured by someone else?
Let’s start with the obvious suspect, the empire.
Elia Kane served under Gideon, so she’s probably still working for him. She seems to have access to highly sensitive and classified information, so this explains how the empire knew when and where the prison transport will be.
Doug: But why frame the Mandalorians?
Well for starters, this is likely all part of Gideon’s plan to weaken the new republic.
In case you didn’t know, Gideon was a member of ISB. That’s short for imperial security bureau.
They’re basically space CIA.
And Andor proves that other than Vader and the emperor, the ISB are the scariest people in the empire.
I still get nightmares after that screaming children interrogation scene.
So Gideon is probably using the tricks he learned from the ISB. So by framing the Mandalorians for his escape, he’s incite
in a conflict between them and the new republic.
