Don't put your iPhone in a bag of rice," Apple warns. "Doing so could allow small particles of rice to damage your iPhone."

Apple recommends the following steps to deal with a wet iPhone:

If your iPhone has been exposed to liquid, it’s important to take immediate action to dry it out and prevent damage.

To start, tap your iPhone against your hand with the connector facing down to remove excess liquid. Then, leave your iPhone in a dry area with some airflow for at least 30 minutes.

After this time, you can try charging with a Lightning or USB-C cable or connecting an accessory. If you see the alert again, there is still liquid in the connector or under the pins of your cable.

In this case, leave your iPhone in a dry area with airflow for up to a day and keep trying to charge or connect an accessory throughout this period. It might take up to 24 hours to fully dry.

If your phone has dried out but still isn’t charging, unplug the cable from the adapter, unplug the adapter from the wall (if possible), and then connect it again.

Don't do common mistakes that Apple warns about the people make when trying to dry out their iPhones, such as:

Don’t stick foreign objects such as Q-Tips or paper towels into connectors.

Don’t use an external heat source or compressed air to speed the drying.
