Power Automate + OpenAI Assistant: Build a Trained Bot to Auto-Reply Outlook Emails
In this video, you will see how I have integrated OpenAI Assistant API with Outlook using Power Automate to reply to Outlook emails. The bot I created on OpenAI is trained with custom data. It can not reply to any queries for which it is not trained.

This bot can be of great use for automating support-related queries. You need to instruct the bot properly so it creates the replies perfectly.
Power Automate is a great tool with which you can create this automation. Power Automate comes with all the Microsoft 365 plans.
Here is how the whole process works:
1. I have the Assistant bot trained with custom data on the OpenAI platform.
2. The Power Automate flow triggers when there is a new email in the Outlook inbox.
3. Then, it sends the email subject and the email body to the Assistant bot using HTTP action.
4. The Assistant generates a reply for the email (Note: It can only create a reply from the documents I provided).
5. Then, the Power Automate flow retrieves the output from the bot.
6. Finally, the flow sends a reply to the same email using the output.
In the video, I explained each of the steps so you can create flow for your use cases.
You need to have an OpenAI account and add some credit to the account. OpenAI charges as per the usage. You can set a limit for your account so it doesn't overcharge if any malfunction happens during the process.
After creating a flow, make sure to fine-tune the assistant bot using the proper instructions. Sometimes, you may notice the bot doesn't generate the expected outputs; this is because the instruction was not clear.
