The NHS has issued a plea for Brits to stay home and minimise contact with others if they experience three key symptoms after contracting COVID-19, as the nation grapples with a surge in cases.

The public has been given advice on how to proceed should they exhibit signs of infection, amidst concerns that a new variant, dubbed XEC, could take hold globally.
