NEW and redesigned question types! Everything you need to know
Beginning on April 2, 2024 new and redesigned question types will be a part of the Duolingo English Test. These updates increase the efficiency of the test and more accurately assess your English proficiency.
Interactive Writing is a multi-step question type that asks you to elaborate on an idea for the first prompt, and then write about a related idea.
Fill in the Blanks asks you to complete the sentence with the correct word. In this question, you will read a sentence with one unfinished word, then fill in the blanks to complete the word
Read and Select asks you to answer, "Is this a real English word?" You will need to read each word and decide if it is an actual word in English. It has been redesigned to show one word at a time.
