Shifu Bluestein | Pigua and Xing Yi for Self-Defense In-Depth Instruction
A student of mine filmed these teaching segments during a Pigua Zhang class. Do pardon the occasional audio sync issues. The video contains techniques and methods for dealing with people who grab you by the shirt. Most of the material is from my Pigua Zhang system, and there is also some from my Xing Yi. In my own application the body method is mixed because I practice both arts, as well as Jook Lum Southern Mantis. I later taught all of these methods in that same class, and they were meant for students with 1-2 years of experience. During the video here and there I provide some hint for more sophisticated applications, requiring a more advanced body method than is available with just 1-2 years of training. Xing Yi Quan and Pigua Zhang were always intended as practical martial arts for self defense and fighting but to apply them well, one needs proper instruction and serious effort put into the practice.
