Anyone who knits knows how important it is to have different numbers of knitting needles and hooks. You never know what you will need at the moment. Therefore, over time, many knitters acquire a full set of tools. The knitting needles alone can be long, short, thick, thin, straight, or circular on a fishing line.
And while hooks can be put in a box, it is inconvenient to store knitting needles in such containers.
It is best to store this wealth in one place; often when knitting you need both knitting needles and a hook. Therefore, it is convenient to use a special organizer for these purposes. Anyone can make it based on the number of hooks and knitting needles that are available.
It is important to make special pockets for the knitting needles on the fishing line. They are the most inconvenient to store, they constantly unfold, but a pocket will hold them securely.
Before starting work, I laid out my equipment to determine the height and chose the longest knitting needles. I will focus on them.
For sewing I will use calico.
1) Cut out 2 rectangles measuring 38 cm (height) x 40 cm (width). One rectangle will be the front side, and all the pockets will be sewn onto the other.
2) I also cut out fabric for pockets of different sizes and placed them one on top of the other. The top edge was folded and stitched.
3) I distributed how the tools would be positioned and made longitudinal stitches, sewing 4 layers of fabric. It turns out that one sector consists of 3 pockets located one on top of the other.
4) I smoothed interlining onto the front rectangle for rigidity. Connected all the parts.
5) I folded the organizer lengthwise and made several lines in the middle as a binding. As planned, it will fold like a book.
6) I sewed a decorative strip of fabric on the front side.
7) I prepared the bias tape and finished the edges of the product.
Ready!
I attached the ties.
I have arranged all my inventory into departments; now each item has its own place.
If desired, the organizer can be rolled into a tube.
You can use it!
