As its name implies, the Goodwood Festival of Speed is an annual gathering of automobile, motorcycle and racing enthusiasts, where new models are being showcased and driven around the race tracks with an intention of setting new performance records withing different vehicle classes. To the amazement of many visitors of the 2022 exhibition, there was one usual contestant – an electric scooter that was developed by a British manufacturer.
It is called Zapp i300 EV and its creators wanted to use the Festival of Speed to showcase the sporty spirit of their upcoming model. Being equipped with an 18-kilowatt electric motor, i300 is no ordinary commuter e-scooter, as it can accelerate from 0 to 30 miles per hour in 2.2 seconds, while its top riding speed is clocked at 60 mph.
The company is planning on bringing this model not just to its domestic territory, but also will be exporting it to the United States and some European countries.
The introduction of such quick accelerating model could spark the competition in the class and prompt manufacturers into producing more sports-oriented smart scooters with good performance specifications.
