AWS Service Control Policies (SCPs) are policies you apply to member accounts within an AWS Organizations configuration. These define guardrails, otherwise, known as permission boundaries for your AWS account and determine the maximum level of permissions that can be granted to IAM users and roles within member accounts.

Understanding how SCPs work in conjunction with IAM and Resource-based policies is critical in preparation for the AWS Certified Solutions Architect SAA-C03 exam.
