You can technically keep goldfish with betta fish but it’s not a good idea. Beginners sometimes attempt to keep these two fish together and it results in sick fish. The reason you can’t keep a beta fish with a Goldfish is that they have different care requirements. What are the biggest factor difference, is the fact that they live in different water temperatures. Goldfish prefer to live in colder water temps versus Betta fish like to be in water temps around 80°F.

Another reason you can’t keep a goldfish with a betta fish is that the goldfish will pick on the betta fish. Goldfish our relentless feeders, and they’re looking for food nonstop. This will usually result in them bugging other fish because they’re just so relentless with hunting for food. It’s important that you do not keep a beta fish with a goldfish in the same aquarium.
