Teenage girls are very badly served by public parks, usually designed for a particular demographic of teenage boys, based on assumed default boy stereotypes. As a result young girls feel unwanted and unsafe in public spaces. Dr Julia King’s research has brought young girls into the conversation about how to address this gap, empowering them to affect positive change by participating in research on their own communities. In this talk she shares the methodology of peer research and discuss some of the findings.
