6 hours of hairdryer noise.
A particular sound that is used to calm babies when they cry from colic or a new tooth. It is used to promote sleep as it is also used for nature sounds such as rain thunderstorms wind ocean waves storm etc.
White noise is a particular type of noise characterized by the absence of periodicity over time and by constant amplitude over the entire frequency spectrum.
It is called white by analogy with the fact that electromagnetic radiation of a similar spectrum within the visible light band would appear to the human eye as white light.
In practice, however, white noise does not exist: it is a theoretical idealization, since no system is able to generate a uniform spectrum for all frequencies extended from zero to infinity, while in the real cases of interest the white noise is at more referable to a frequency range (finite or limited band white noise). A spectrum with characteristics similar to white noise, but with greater amplitude at low frequencies and lower until it is zero at higher frequencies, is often presented.
