Kaggle is a community platform for data scientists most well-known for competitive competitions. In this meetup, Philipp and Dmitry who are one of the top ranked data scientists on Kaggle, will talk about their journey on the platform. They will give a short overview of the types of competitions being hosted on Kaggle, before they will go into detail discussing the ins-and-outs of a competition of choice they participated in. Next to methodological insights, the audience should get a feeling of how top Kagglers approach competitions and get insights into some of their thought processes as well as tips and tricks.

Philipp Singer currently works as a data scientist in UNIQA Insurance Group. Previously, he was working as a post-doctoral researcher at the Data Science Lab of GESIS. Philipp obtained a PhD in computer science with honors at the Technical University of Graz where he also finished his Master studies in Software Development and Business Management. During his career he has obtained several awards including multiple winning and top placements on Kaggle as well as several scientific honors such as a best paper award at the renowned World Wide Web Conference. Dmitry Gordeev currently works as a data scientist in UNIQA Insurance Group. He holds a master degree in data mining and has in-depth experience of machine learning applications in financial institutes, focused on risk management and credit scoring.
