When we were passing the border, they didn't ask my wife any questions. But when it came to me, they have a quite different attitude, they asked me why I am going to Taiwan, what's my next destination, how long do I plan to stay. And the dude didn't know if he shall let me pass, he asked his superior and even made several phone calls. Finally, they let me through. I was like, damn I am a citizen from mainland China, shouldn't I get treated with more respect? Well never mind, I guess that's exactly the reason why I decided to leave.
