There's a new movie called Samson. Is it totally based on the bible? Not exactly. The plot is as the following says. "A Hebrew with an unusual gift of strength must respond properly to the call of God on his life in order to lead his people out of enslavement. After his youthful ambition leads to a tragic marriage, his acts of revenge thrust him into direct conflict with the Philistine army. As his brother mounts a tribal rebellion, only Samson's relationship with a Philistine seductress and his final surrender - both to the Philistines and to God - turns imprisonment and blindness into final victory." The Samson featured is not entirely scripturally based. Please read Judges chapters 13 to 16, before moving on, if you have not before. As most people who claim to be Christians, are bible illiterates, which this study shows. Now, I will give some highlights on the true story of Samson. His father was named Manoah which means rest. His birth was predicted by the angel of the Lord, Like Mary's was who bore Jesus our savior, yet his mother's name is not mentioned. Today people worship Mary that is like venerating Manoah's wife who had no business other than bringing a son who was going to be the saviour of Israel. The child of Manoah and his wife was the gift of God, to set the captives free. What they could not do through the weakness of the flesh, God in grace accomplished. Similarly, in the life of virgin Mary, the Holy spirit overshadowed her and Jesus was born. What could not be accomplished by the flesh, since all have sinned, was accomplished by the spirit. That is why the scriptures say Grace and truth came through JESUS CHRIST.

Manoah's wife was told drink not wine nor strong drink, and to eat not any unclean thing. Just as we are told to live a holy life today of separation from sin. God's word says, "Therefore come out from among them and be separate, says the Lord. Touch no unclean thing, and I will receive you." The Scriptures tell us, Whatsoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for His seed remaineth in him; and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. And in the case of Jesus, the virgin Mary was anointed with the Holy spirit overshadowing her so that which is born of her was called HOLY. The son of Manoah was separated from the birth, but my Lord was separated even before the foundation of the world. God planned His coming long before he made the world, knowing that it would sin - walking in disobedience, and would need redemption.

Samson came from the tribe of Dan, it means judge. Even our Lord Jesus is savior and Judge. Dan was the fifth son of Jacob. Number five means the grace of God. The portion received by Dan in the allotment of the land was the smallest of the twelve tribes of Israel. it is also true of our savior.

The birthplace of Jesus was in Bethlehem Ephrathah, was little among the thousands of Judah, yet out thee shall he come forth unto me the ruler of Israel. The native place of Samson was very insignificant like the Manger or box that cows eat from, in Bethlehem - but the Glory of God shone round that place.
