Linear Technology Corporation (LTC), of Milpitas California has been designing, manufacturing and marketing a broad line of high performance analog integrated circuits (ICs) for major companies worldwide since 1981. The Company's products provide a bridge between the physical analog "real" world and the digital electronics in communications, networking, industrial, automotive, computer, medical, instrumentation, consumer, and military and aerospace systems. LTC produces power management, data conversion, signal conditioning, RF and interface ICs, module subsystems and wireless sensor network products. The company has received many awards for its products and for its consistent financial performance. LTC was founded by Robert Swanson, Robert Dobkin, Brent Welling, and Brian Hollins.This oral history by two of the founders describes the process of founding the company and establishing a culture where the engineering staff plays a major role in the direction and success of the organization.
