Canva, a fast-growing startup with a global product, has embraced localization and built more than a few scalable localization programs. Canva knew empirically that its content saw greater customer engagement and traction when it was localized, but had never been able to localize a library of 50,000+ templates that were only available in English. To grow their global footprint, they were eager to make their template library more accessible to customers around the world, but faced the difficult task of taking millions of words across a variety of tones, formats, and data structures and planning a project strategy that would take these templates to market for global customer segments. The Localized Templates project, built out over the past 2 years by the Canva team, brings a diverse, ever-growing library of 350,000 high-quality templates into more than 20 new markets. In this session, Paul Buckley discusses how Canva managed the complexities of this massive endeavor to successfully maintain a high degree of quality and create market-specific content at scale to help Canva grow.
