Advantages:
Applicable to rectangular, circular, ellipse and triangular patch shapes.
Accounts for higher order modes.
Accounts for the feed inductance.
Provides physical insight into antenna operation (resonant modes).
Drawbacks:
Unable to analyze multilayer patch antenna elements.
