Australian foreign minister Penny Wong described the 'death and destruction' in Rafah as 'horrific' in parliament yesterday.

At least 45 people were killed on Sunday by an airstrike and huge fire in an area crowded with refugee tents in Rafah. Images of charred and dismembered children prompted an outcry from global leaders. The strikes ignited fires that spread quickly through tents and makeshift accommodation, overwhelming a nearby field hospital operated by the International Committee of the Red Cross and overstretched local hospitals.
