Preventing RPM packages from updating.
Prevent packages (RPM based) from installing during a yum/dnf update. Redhat based distros provide an easy way to stop a package from updating. Usually you want to do this so that you can test an update before putting it into production.
I'll cover the command line option, and an automated way to prevent package updates. This applies to Redhat, Centos, AlmaLinux, Rocky Linux, Springdale, and any other distro based on Redhat.
