The time lapse video above was taken over a four day period in March 2017. It shows the accelerated construction of the Sacramento Wash bridge in northwestern Arizona.
Instead of shutting down Oatman Highway (also known as Old Route 66) for weeks, Mohave County, FHWA and ADOT partnered to build the state's first prefabricated bridge in just four days.
The bridge was built in Phoenix, then transported in pieces to the project site. Crews then assembled sections of the bridge together kind of like Legos. The innovative approach saves both time and money while cutting down on road closures needed to build a conventional bridge.
