Starting with VDJ8.5/2021 6418 you can add a "time in beats" parameter for repeating scripts, which basically lets you setup VDJ to do a lot of different things in time

effect_active 'echo' 1 & repeat_start '8beatecho' 8bt 1 & effect_active 'echo' 0
sampler_play 'siren' & repeat_start '8beatdiren' 8bt 1 & sampler_play_stop 'siren'
repeat_start_instant '4btshader' 4bt & effect_string "audioonlyvisualisation" 1 +1
repeat_start 'mix16bt' 16bt 1 & mix_now
