Surfacing rough sawn slabs with a router requires a cutter that delivers a smooth, flat cut over a wide area. That cutter also has to deal with crazy grain switches and wide variations in depth of cut. The new Ultra∙Shear Carbide Insert Slab Flattening Spoilboard Bit uses three nano-grain carbide inserts mounted in a precision-turned solid steel body to deliver exceptionally smooth cuts a full 2” wide with each pass on your slabs. And when the edges finally wear, just turn the inserts to a fresh edge and get right back to work. Each insert is sharpened on 4 edges. When you've gone through all 4, just buy a new set of inserts and you’re ready to go. The body will last forever.
