When telling the story through photography, like any other story there's a beginning a middle and an end. I'm Christy Bonnie, I'm a blogger and photographer from Washington State and in today's Tamron tip cast I'm going to show you how to tell a story through photos. Today I'm taking my family on a hike at a mountain trial near our home it's a fun place we like to go to to take a lot of photos and just have some fun family adventures. Today I'm going to take photos from start to finish I'll choose the images that best convey not only what our family did but kind of what our family is like. Create a mental checklist of all the shots you'd like to get it'll help you tell the story. Today I'll be shooting with my Tamron 24-70 millimeters that'll allow me to get close-ups, wide shots even candids, all the photos that I'll need to help pull the viewer in and really experience what we experienced. Having a lens with a good focal range will really allow you to be ready for those unpredictable moments for instance if your child finds a lizard on the ground, okay by using the focal range I can zoom in to get a photo of the lizard or pull back and get a shot of my daughter's reactions. Shoot from different perspectives don't just shoot your subject straight on with the Sun at your back experiment with different angles. I decided to take some shots of my family while we were looking at the trailhead map I started out by taking some shots straight on and decided to kind of mix it up just to experiment and see what worked they gave me a great variety of shots to work with, one little tweak and shooting position can make all the difference in creating fun family photos think about the placement of your subject within the frame try to create visual interest, for example this photo of my daughter Alyssa, I could place her in the middle of the frame which kind of seems flat and boring or I could place her off to the side to create a more dynamic composition let the background set the mood for your images you guys ready this beautiful Vista really sets the mood for the image it's just our small little family in this great big world and it's our love for each other and sticking together that gets us through that's what I was trying to capture.

Emotion plays an important role in storytelling whether you're capturing it from your subject or evoking emotion from your viewer be sure to capture facial expressions, interactions between subjects and reactions to those unpredictable moments. our dog is an important part of our family and I love taking photos of her and I can always count on getting a great emotional reaction for my kids when they see photos of our dogs being silly stop, look, listen photograph the story as it unfolds around you there's incredible beauty and shooting your story unfold unscripted just as it is try out some of these tips on your next family adventure and visit the Tamron website for more Tamron tip casts.
